The marketing agency NAPI analyzed sales of new Russian, Chinese, and other foreign brand cars in January-February 2026.
Compared to the similar period last year, the market declined by 3.3%. Meanwhile, only two segments showed a decline. The segment of cars of traditional Russian brands fell by 25.7%, with sales totaling 39.2 thousand units. Traditional Russian brands accounted for 24.8% (-7.5 p.p.) in January-February. The segment of imported Chinese cars experienced a more significant decline (by 50.9%), with 34.0 thousand units sold over the two months. The share of Chinese cars imported into Russia was 21.5% (-20.8 p.p.).
Three car market segments showed growth. Sales of new Russian brand cars increased by 284.2% year-on-year (24.4 units thousand in January-February 2026), accounting for 15.4% (+11.5 p.p.). Sales of imported foreign brand cars (excluding Chinese brands) grew by 134.9% (31.5 thousand units), accounting for 19.9% (+11.7 p.p.). Sales of foreign brand cars manufactured in Russia increased by 32.9% (29.1 thousand units), accounting for 18.4% (+5.0 p.p.).
Total sales of all Chinese cars (imported, manufactured in Russia, and those of new Russian brands developed in partnership with Chinese automakers) decreased by 6.9% to 91.8 thousand units in January-February 2026. The market share of these cars fell by 2.3 p.p. to 58.0%.
Sales of all cars manufactured in Russia (new, those of traditional brands, and foreign ones manufactured in Russia) totaled 92.7 thousand units, having decreased by 14.4% year-on-year. However, their share grew by 9.1 p.p. and reached 58.6%.
