15.06.2026 / New car sales increased by more than 20% in a number of regions

According to the marketing agency NAPI, 614.4 thousand cars were sold in May 2026. Of all cars purchased, 17.6% (108.4 thousand units) were new, and 82.4% (506 thousand units) were used. Compared to May 2025, car sales increased by 9.2%, with new cars sold up 19.9% ​​and used cars up 7.2%.

TOP-10 regions by the number of new and used cars purchased remained unchanged over the year. TOP-3 included Moscow (+17.5% on the last year), the Moscow Region (+7.9%), and the Krasnodar Region (+9.0%). New car sales grew most significantly in the Sverdlovsk Region (+34.3%), Moscow (+27.7%), and the Chelyabinsk Region (+26.1%). Used car sales increased most significantly in Moscow (+13.5%), the Rostov-on-Don Region (+11.9%), and the Krasnodar Region (+10.1%). The share of new cars was up by 1.5 p.p. year-on-year and reached 17.6%.

Among TOP-10 regions, the share of new cars was highest in Moscow (31.0%), Saint Petersburg (27.6%), the Samara Region (26.5%), and the Republic of Tatarstan (25.4%).
