According to the marketing agency NAPI, sales of used Chinese cars increased by 45% in 2024. Last year, 193.8 thousand used Chinese cars were sold against 133.6 thousand units sold in 2023. Almost a quarter of all Chinese cars sold are cars aged under two years. Among non-Chinese cars, this age group accounts for just over one percent of used car sales.
Cars aged under 5 years account for slightly more than half of the used Chinese car market. Among non-Chinese cars, cars aged under 5 years account for only slightly more than ten percent. On the one hand, such a market composition can be explained by the fact that mass sales of Chinese cars began much later. On the other hand, such a situation may indicate that a significant part of new Chinese car owners do not yet intend to operate them as long as European, Japanese and other familiar cars.
