The marketing agency NAPI analyzed the dynamics of new car sales by engine capacity. In January-November 2025, 1,171.6 thousand new cars were sold, which was a 16.9% decline on the similar period of 2024. Of them, 406.6 thousand units with engines capacity of over 160 HP (-14.4% on 2024) and 765 thousand units with engines capacity of 160 HP or less (-18.1%) were sold.
Recall that in September of the current year, it was announced that recycling tax for high-powered cars would increase starting November 1. As a result, in October, sales of all cars grew by 34.9% on the previous month, while those of cars with engines capacity of over 160 HP - by 41.7%. As many buyers experienced delays in car delivery and customs clearance, the new regulations were postponed until December 1. In November, car sales fell by 22.9% on October to 126.2 thousand units, but remained higher than in January-September. Of them, 50.1 thousand cars had engines capacity of over 160 HP.
In January-November 2024, the share of high-powered cars was 33.7%, while in 2025, it was 34.7%. In November of the current year, their share peaked for the period under review (40%).
