The marketing agency NAPI analyzed the localization level of cars approved for use as passenger taxis. The table* shows the average localization points for each model.
As of July 1, 2026, the Russian taxi population consists of 885.1 thousand passenger cars with valid permits. Currently, 12 brands and 36 models are approved for use as passenger taxis.
The population of taxi of all years of manufacture is primarily represented by cars equipped with internal combustion engines. Electric and hybrid cars account for 14.1 thousand units (1.6% of the population). Two electric hybrid models are included in the list of cars approved for use as taxis. Electric cars account for 3.1 thousand units (0.3%). Seven electric car models are approved for use as taxis.
The "new era" taxi population (taxis manufactured in 2022-2026) consists of 234.5 thousand cars. The share of cars approved for taxi service in the new population was 45.2%. This figure is primarily due to the large number of Lada cars. The share of Lada cars in the 2022-2026 taxi population made 27.3%.
It should be noted that prices for approved cars increased by an average of 18.8% over the year.
