According to the marketing agency NAPI, the car population numbered 52.9 million units as of January 1, 2026. 17.1 million units are Russian cars, accounting for 32.4% of the population. The population also includes 3.1 million Chinese cars, accounting for 5.8%.
TOP-10 regions account for 41.1% of the car population. The share of Russian cars in the list of TOP-10 regions is 27.6%, while that of Chinese ones - 7.4%.
Among the regions analyzed, Russian cars predominate in the Samara region (48.6%) and the Bashkortostan Republic (44.1%). Moscow and Saint Petersburg have the smallest share of Russian cars - 14.4% and 15.2%, respectively. However, these regions also have the highest share of Chinese cars: 9.0% in Moscow and 9.6% in Saint Petersburg. The Sverdlovsk region (5.6%) and the Bashkortostan Republic (5.4%) have the smallest number of Chinese cars.
