The marketing agency NAPI compared the average total cost of ownership of Chinese cars in July 2026 and July 2025*.

Over the year, the average total cost of ownership of a Chinese car increased. State duty grew by 47.4%, while the cost of tires and tire service increased by 34.1%. Costs of regular repair (16.1%), MTPL (14.4%), and hull insurance (17.9%) increased significantly. Chinese cars themselves appreciated by an average of 2.2% over the year. A kilometer of mileage now costs 34.8 rubles: its cost grew by 2.87 rubles or 9.0%. Over three years, the owner of a Chinese car will pay 2.08 million rubles.

The share of hull insurance, MTPL, tires, regular repair, and state duties increased in the total cost of ownership composition. The share of fuel, regular maintenance, and transport tax decreased, on the contrary. Depreciation began to account for a smaller part in the cost composition.

The information presented is a small excerpt from a presentation by Tatyana Arabadzhi, NAPI Director, made at the plenary analytical session "After-Sales Service Market Analysis," which will be held within the business program of the MIMS Automobility exhibition at the AGORA open conference venue in Saint Petersburg on August 25.
