The marketing agency NAPI analyzed the average initial ownership periods for new cars in 2024-2025 among private owners.

In 2025, initial ownership periods for most car brands increased. In 2025, private owners maintained the longest ownership periods for American brands – 108 months (+8 months on 2024) – and British brands – 93 months (+5 months). The initial ownership period for French (+8 months), Czech (+8 months), Japanese (+8 months), German (+7 months), and Swedish (+5 months) brands exceeded 80 months. Korean cars showed the largest increase in initial ownership periods (+9 months), reaching 79 months.

Meanwhile, ownership periods for Italian (-1 month), Russian (-1 month), and Chinese (-3 months) cars decreased; in 2025, they were significantly shorter than those for other brands. Initial ownership periods made 58 months for Italian and Russian cars, while only 32 months for Chinese cars.
