According to the marketing agency NAPI, the electric vehicle population* numbered 76,800 units as of July 1, 2025. The vast majority (95.4%) are electric cars, while electric buses account for 3.6% of the population. 85% of all electric buses operate in Moscow, with Russian vehicles accounting for 98.6% of the electric bus population.

The situation is different in the electric car population, with Russian brands accounting for only 9.4%. Japanese cars remain leaders, accounting for almost a third of electric cars. They are followed by Chinese brands, which were virtually not available in the Russian electric car market just three years ago. Chinese electric cars now occupy the second place with a 28.7% share. If Russian brands produced in partnership are counted in, Chinese electric cars have already overtaken Japanese ones.
