According to Russian Automotive Market Research, as of January 1, 2020 there are 76.6 thousand financial leasing contracts for cars concluded in 2019. Of them 10.1 thousand leasing contracts were concluded by individuals and private entrepreneurs.

The average term of leasing contracts concluded by individuals and private entrepreneurs in 2019¹ is 34 months. This figure was 33 months for leasing contracts concluded in 2018².

In 2019 individuals and private entrepreneurs leased 11.5 thousand cars. In 2018 they concluded leasing contracts for 6.6 thousand cars.

The most in-demand cars

Among cars leased in 2019 KIA cars were in the greatest demand among these lessees – 1.4 thousand units.

VOLKSWAGEN cars are on the second place. For the reporting period 1.0 thousand cars of this brand were leased by individuals and private entrepreneurs.

Top three also included the Russian LADA.

VOLKSWAGEN POLO was the most popular model among individuals and private entrepreneurs for the reporting period. RENAULT LOGAN, HYUNDAI SOLARIS and two KIA models – RIO and OPTIMA - also entered TOP-5 leased cars. LADA GRANTA and LADA VESTA were the most popular models among Russian brands.

Distribution of demand for leased cars between individuals/private entrepreneurs and legal entities

Demand for leased cars of various brands is not evenly distributed between individuals/private entrepreneurs and legal entities. For example, 18% of all Renault cars purchased in 2019 were leased by individuals and private entrepreneurs.

In 2019 the highest rate of activity of individuals and private entrepreneurs took place in the Stavropol region: 34% of all cars purchased in the region were leased by these lessees.

The share of individuals and private entrepreneurs in the Krasnodar region was 22%.
