Russian Automotive Market Research calculated the number of cars and light commercial vehicles purchased under financial leasing in 2020.

Cars

In 2020¹, 136.0 thousand cars were transferred to financial leasing, which was a 13.3% rise on the result of 2019².

In 2020, VOLKSWAGEN accounted for 13.8% of leased cars. TOP-3 brands also included KIA and LADA with shares of 11.9% and 10.9% respectively.

It should be noted that TOP-10 includes three premium brands - BMW, MERCEDES-BENZ and AUDI: their shares in financial leasing increased year-on-year.

Light commercial vehicles

Following results of 2020, 27.6 thousand LCV were purchased under financial leasing, which was a 7.2% decline on the result of 2019.

GAZ vehicles accounted for slightly less than half of leased LCV. The second place was occupied by FORD with a 13.4% share in leasing. The demand for Russian LADA remained at the same level: in 2020 its share was 10.4%.
