Capacity%20of%20the%20Russian%20car%20maIn 2019 2 614 975 million rubles were received from new car sales in the Russian market, which was a 7.1% rise on 2018.

Increase in the market capacity against the background of falling sales (-2.3%) was due to the growth of weighted average prices for new cars by 9.6%.

In 2019 the used car market capacity amounted to 3 005 749 million rubles (+6.7%).

For the reporting period weighted average prices for used cars increased by 7.1% year-on-year to 558 535 rubles.

New car market

In 2019 the best financial result belonged to KIA. In 2019 Russians spent 292 820 million rubles on the purchase of cars of this brand. The second place by the financial result was occupied by TOYOTA, dealers of which sold new cars on 256 676 million rubles. MERCEDES-BENZ overtook the Russian LADA and entered the top three by the market capacity with a result of 236 940 million rubles against 233 996 million rubles (LADA).

In 2019 the Japanese NISSAN and LEXUS showed negative financial capacity dynamics caused by the decrease in brand sales by 14.8% and 6.2%, respectively.

Moscow residents were leaders by funds spent on the purchase of new cars in 2019 – 613 330 million rubles. TOP-3 regions by the financial capacity also included Saint Petersburg and the Moscow region, residents of which spent 228 890 million rubles and 220 588 million rubles, respectively, on the purchase of cars.

Used car market

TOYOTA was the leader among used car brands in 2019: Russians spent 443 728 million rubles on the purchase of its cars. It was followed by LADA and MERCEDES-BENZ, cars of which cost the Russian residents 301 237 million rubles and 234 190 million rubles, respectively.

Absolute leader by the market capacity among Russian regions is Moscow. In 2019 used cars on 291 577 million rubles were sold in the capital. Significant amount of more than 100 000 million rubles was spent on the purchase of used cars by residents of Krasnodar region, Saint Petersburg and the Moscow region.
