According to Russian Automotive Market Research, over five months of 2020, Russian buyers purchased 26.2 thousand new trucks, which was a 11% decline year-on-year.
In May 2020, truck sales fell by 13% to 4.3 thousand units.
In May 2020 the rating of regions by new truck sales was led by Moscow, Tatarstan Republic and the Moscow region. Despite the general decline in new truck sales in May 2020, a number of regional TOP-20 markets showed noticeable positive dynamics: sales in Tatarstan Republic, Nizhny Novgorod, Rostov-on-Don, Tyumen regions and Yamalo-Nenets AR grew by more than 50%.

New truck sales of the market leader KAMAZ increased by 32.3% in May 2020 and amounted to 2.05 thousand units. It was followed by GAZ trucks, sales of which decreased by 8.2% to 0.56 thousand units. TOP-3 also included ISUZU, which sold 0.24 thousand trucks (+20.0% year-on-year).

New LCV market
Following results of five months of 2020, new LCV1 sales totaled 36.9 thousand units – by 15% less than in the same period of 2019.
In May 2020 the new LCV market fell by 25% on May 2019 to 6.0 thousand units.
In May 2020 Moscow, the Moscow region and Saint Petersburg led the rating of regions by new LCV sales. Sales of light commercial vehicles in these regions were down by 19.7%, 8.5% and 6.1%, respectively.
In May 2020 almost all TOP-20 regions showed decline in new LCV sales. The only exception were the Chelyabinsk, Krasnoyarsk and Leningrad regions, in which demand for new LCV increased by 7.7%, 8.3% and 60.0%, respectively.

The market leader GAZ sold 2.42 thousand light commercial vehicles in May 2020, which was a 30.7% decline on May 2019. Sales of Russian UAZ and LADA also fell by 37.5% and 9.7%, respectively. The demand for VOLKSWAGEN, TOYOTA, and MERCEDES-BENZ vehicles decreased as well.
Sales of FORD light commercial vehicles, on the contrary, increased by 31.9%. Demand for PEUGEOT, MITSUBISHI, and CITROEN vehicles grew as well.

New bus market
In January-May 2020, 4.7 thousand new buses were sold in the Russian market, which was a 9% decline year-on-year.
The bus market showed negative dynamics in May (-31%) and amounted to 0.7 thousand units.
In May 2020, Moscow, Perm and Rostov-on-Don regions became leaders by new bus sales.
In May 2020 demand for new buses increased in twelve TOP-20 regions. New bus sales remained at the level of May of the last year in the Tyumen region.
