The agency Russian Automotive Market Research analyzed the special purpose vehicle leasing market for four months of 2021.

Special purpose vehicles

In January-April 2021¹, 11.7 thousand special purpose vehicles were transferred to financial leasing, which was a 89% rise on January-April 2020².

The equity participation of lessees in financial leasing transactions underwent the following changes. The share of sole proprietors increased from 8% to 12%, while that of companies with state participation grew from 0.4% to 3%. The share of individuals remained unchanged and amounted to 0.1%. It should be noted that the joint share of other companies fell by 7% and amounted to 85% (Fig. 1).

In January-April 2021, the number of road construction vehicles leased increased by 93% and amounted to 5.1 thousand units. Leasing sales of agricultural vehicles grew by 77% to 2.1 thousand units. The amount of warehouse vehicles leased amounted to 0.7 thousand units, which was a 25% rise year-on-year (Fig. 2).
