In January-April 2020, new car sales in money terms decreased by 0.2% and amounted to 749 billion rubles.
Negative dynamics of the market revenue was caused by a 9.3% drop in demand for new cars in Russia.

In January-April 2020, used car sales fell by 10% on January-April 2019. In this regard, the market revenue of the used car market decreased by 4.6% and amounted to 837 billion rubles.

New car market
In January-April 2020, Moscow residents were leaders by money spent on purchasing new cars – 154.3 billion rubles, which was a 15% decline on money on January-April 2019.
Despite the fact that new car sales in all TOP-15 regions showed negative dynamics, most of them maintained positive market revenue.

Following results of four months of 2020, the best financial result belongs to KIA. For the reporting period Russians spent 79.9 billion rubles on the purchase of cars of this brand – by 1.4% less than in the same period of the last year. The second place by financial results is taken by TOYOTA, dealers of which sold new cars on 75.9 billion rubles (+4%). MERCEDES-BENZ also entered TOP-3 by market revenue with the result of 64.7 billion rubles (-6.3%).
In addition to TOYOTA, several other brands showed positive market revenue dynamics - HYUNDAI, BMW, VOLKSWAGEN, SKODA, NISSAN, AUDI and MAZDA.

Used car market
Moscow is the absolute leader by market revenue among Russian regions. Over four months of 2020, used cars on 74.3 billion rubles were sold in the capital. Residents of the Krasnodar region, Saint Petersburg and the Moscow region spent a significant amount – more than 30 billion rubles - on the purchase of used cars. All these regions showed negative trend in market revenue.
Only four TOP-15 regional markets maintained positive dynamics of financial results – Sverdlovsk, Irkutsk and Chelyabinsk regions, as well as in Tatarstan Republic.

TOYOTA was the leader among used cars in January-April 2020: Russians spent 121.6 billion rubles on its cars. It was followed by LADA and MERCEDES-BENZ. For the reporting period, Russian buyers purchased LADA cars on 80.5 billion rubles, MERCEDES-BENZ - on 72.6 billion rubles.
BMW, KIA, RENAULT and LEXUS increased their used car sales in money terms.
