Russian Automotive Market Research calculated the number of cars and commercial vehicles purchased under financial leasing over three quarters of 2020.

Following results of the first nine months of 2020, 76.5 thousand financial leasing contracts for cars were concluded in Russia1. This is 0.6% less than it was concluded over the same period of 20192.

For the reporting period, 82.0 thousand cars were transferred to financial leasing, which was a 5.4% decline year-on-year.

In January-September 2020, VOLKSWAGEN accounted for a little more than 16% of leased cars. KIA and LADA also entered the top three.

It should be noted that TOP-10 included three premium brands - BMW, MERCEDES-BENZ and AUDI – shares of which in financial leasing increased year-on-year.

Following results of three quarters of 2020, 36.1 thousand financial leasing contracts for trucks were concluded in Russia. This is 5.7% more than it was concluded over the same period of 2019.

In January-September 2020, 43.1 thousand trucks were transferred to financial leasing, which was a 2.0% decline year-on-year.

KAMAZ vehicles were in the greatest demand among lessees, who leased trucks in January-September 2020. VOLVO trucks are on the second place. The Russian GAZ, which surpassed MAN (it was on the third place in the previous year) rounds out the top three.

Following results of three quarters of 2020, 19.2 thousand financial leasing contracts for LCV were concluded in Russia. This is 5.7% less than it was concluded over the same period of 2019.

For the reporting period, 19.2 thousand LCV were purchased under financial leasing, which was a 9.4% decline year-on-year.

GAZ accounted for slightly more than half of leased LCV. The second place was occupied by FORD with a 12.7% share in leasing. The Russian LADA strengthened its position in leasing: in January-September 2020, its share was 10.4% against 6.5% in the same period of 2019.

B_How%20many%20vehicles%20were%20leased%2uses

Following results of the first nine months of 2020, 1.7 thousand financial leasing contracts for buses were concluded in Russia. This is 37.5% less than it was concluded over the same period of 2019.

For the reporting period, 2.9 thousand buses were transferred to financial leasing, which was a 12.1% decline year-on-year.

PAZ vehicles were in the greatest demand among lessees, who leased buses in January-September 2020. LIAZ buses are on the second place. Another Russian brand, NEFAZ, rounds out the top three.
