DownloadIn the first quarter of 2020, new cars on 650 billion rubles were sold in the Russian market, which was a 27.0% rise on the first quarter of 2019.
The capacity increase was due to not only sales growth, but rising weighted average prices for new cars by 8.9%.

Capacity of the used car market amounted to 688 billion rubles in January-March 2020 (+11.7%).
For the reporting period weighted average prices for used cars grew by 5.4% year-on-year to 573 769 rubles.

New car market
In the first quarter of 2020, the best financial result belonged to KIA. For the reporting period, Russians spent 71.5 billion rubles on cars of this brand.
The second place by financial results was occupied by TOYOTA, dealers of which sold new cars on 65.7 billion rubles.
MERCEDES-BENZ also entered TOP-3 by the market capacity with a result of 58.1 billion rubles.

In January-March 2020, Moscow residents were leaders by funds spent on new cars – 143.7 billion rubles.
TOP-3 regions by market revenue also included the Moscow region and Saint Petersburg, residents of which purchased cars on 58.3 billion rubles and 57.6 billion rubles, respectively.

TOYOTA was the leader among used cars in the first quarter of 2020: Russians spent 97.8 billion rubles on cars of this brand.
It was followed by LADA and MERCEDES-BENZ. For the reporting period, Russian buyers purchased LADA cars on 67.3 billion rubles, MERCEDES-BENZ cars - on 57.7 billion rubles.

Moscow is the absolute leader by the market capacity among Russian regions. Over the first three months of 2020, used cars on 66.8 billion rubles were sold in the capital.
Residents of the Krasnodar region, Saint Petersburg and the Moscow region spent a significant amount of more than 30 billion rubles on the purchase of used cars.
