According to Russian Automotive Market Research, in January-March 2021, 28.24 thousand new LCV [1] were  Vehicles with GVW of up to 6 tons inclusive, including pickups

sold in the Russian market, which was a 12.7% rise on the similar period of 2020.

The rating of regional new LCV markets is headed by Moscow and the Moscow region. Sales of light commercial vehicles in these regions increased by 12.9% and 39.7%, respectively. TOP-3 also included Saint Petersburg, in which the new LCV market grew by 18.7% over three months of 2021.

The leader of the new LCV market remains GAZ, which sold 10.54 thousand light commercial vehicles for the reporting period (-1.7% year-on-year).

VOLKSWAGEN (-16.5%) and TOYOTA (-20.3%) also showed negative sales dynamics.

Following results of January-March 2021, the new car market showed negative dynamics (-7.8%) and amounted to 346.54 thousand units.

The rating of regions by new car sales in the first quarter of 2021 was headed by Moscow, the Moscow region and Saint Petersburg.

For the reporting period, almost all TOP-20 regional markets showed the drop in demand for new cars. The exceptions were the Moscow region (+0.5%), the Krasnodar region (+1.8%) and the Novosibirsk region (+5.7%).

For the reporting period, the traditional market leader LADA sold 84.05 thousand cars (+10.0% year-on-year). It was followed by KIA and HYUNDAI, their sales decreased by 12.5% and 15.2%, respectively.
