UzAuto Motors is considering the possibility of releasing a new model that meets the requests of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, the Southern Automobile reports. In May, the head of state announced a strategic goal – to develop the production of a new national car that meets requirements of Euro-5 emission standard.
The estimated cost of the project will be $ 100 million. The project is planned to be implemented in two stages: the organization of SKD assembly, which is planned to be mastered by next year, and the transition to a full-fledged cycle with localization of at least 50%, scheduled for 2027.
The Wuling Hongguang V minibus, known in Mexico as Chevrolet N400, is considered a likely model for assembly. It is manufactured by the Chinese SAIC-GM-Wuling company and is equipped with 1.2-liter 82-HP unit coupled with manual gear box.
