The URAL Automobile Plant has started developing a new model range of transfer boxes as part of the import substitution policy implementation, as well as work on the "Mastering the production of a promising series of drive and front axles" project.
Modifications of Ural trucks with new axles require the development of some elements of the vehicle design, in particular, the transfer box. The need to develop new TB types appeared after the launch of a large-scale import substitution "Mastering the production of a promising series of drive and front axles" project. The transfer boxes currently manufactured at the URAL Automobile Plant are used for the mass-produced line-up of Ural all-wheel drive vehicles with a gross weight of up to 27 tons. The project also provides for the creation of aggregates, including for heavier all-terrain vehicles of the E33 segment with a gross weight of 34 tons.
The project will be implemented within three years. Within its framework, the plant will design and master production of three types of transfer boxes, which differ in input torque – 1,200, 1,800 and 2,500 kgf/m. The designated modifications of transfer boxes will be used in the entire range of Ural all-wheel drive vehicles produced.
