LADA production will be set up at the former Nissan plant

AvtoVAZ intends to launch car production at the former Nissan plant in Saint Petersburg in the second quarter. This is stated in a press release on the company's website. It is clarified that the launch is being prepared jointly with partners from "friendly countries", the exact date and other details are not given.

Nissan announced its leaving from the Russian market in October 2022. The Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation announced that its FSUE will receive 100% of Nissan's assets in Russia, including a plant in Saint Petersburg. Nissan cars in Russia are serviced by a former Renault AvtoVAZ asset. In January 2023, it became known that AvtoVAZ would receive the Russian Nissan assets. The deal was closed in February. AvtoVAZ planned to produce up to 10 thousand cars per year at the former Nissan plant.
