KAMAZ Repair and Tool Plant celebrates its 55th anniversary

On April 8, 2025, the KAMAZ Repair and Tool Plant celebrates its 55th anniversary. The plant celebrates its anniversary by implementing projects to re-equip production: the intensive introduction of modern equipment and tools continues at the enterprise.

Today, the KAMAZ Automobile Plant, Engine Plant, and Spare Parts and Components Plant are intensively updating equipment, which is why there is a need for progressive tools. Last year, 97 positions of such tools were introduced at the Repair and Tool Plant: 84 positions – with the replacement of the sanctioned one (the economic effect made 1.7 million rubles per 1,000 parts); 10 positions produced in Russia (the economic effect reached 397 thousand rubles per 1,000 parts); three positions were introduced with increased processing productivity (the economic effect made 37.9 thousand rubles). The work will continue: in 2025, it is planned to introduce at least 100 advanced tool positions, including manufacturing and testing.

Recently, a plasma metal cutting machine has been added to the equipment fleet of the company's repair and forging workshop. According to Chief Technologist Marat Zaripov, the plasma cutting machine produced in Russia has replaced the Soviet gas plasma equipment. A multi-purpose machine with a working field of 2.1 x 6.2 m has gas and plasma cutters. In the first case, it is possible to cut sheets up to 150 mm, and in the second one – those up to 52 mm.

Advantages of the new machine over the old gas plasma equipment also include the speed and accuracy of cutting. Now it became possible to cut parts without size allowances. The parts were previously manufactured on laser cutting machines at other KAMAZ plants. But there were also problems caused by the metal specifics. The new machine will reduce machining, including reducing the time for milling. The real economic effect of using the equipment will amount to 5 million rubles per year.
