The Tutaev Motor Plant, KAMAZ subsidiary in the Yaroslavl region, continues its efforts to expand its industrial engine line-up based on the "Etalon" platform, developed in cooperation with the KAMAZ R&D Center. The enterprise is currently working on a prototype for a new 441 kW (600 HP) engine.
According to Alexander Shevtsov, Deputy Chief Designer at TMP, specialists from the Chief Designer's Department and the Mechanical Assembly Shop conducted a series of tests in September to select components and tune the electronic control system for the pre-prototype 8809.10-02 engine model capacity of 441 kW (600 HP). The testing cycle concluded with a turbocharger performance check under peak operating conditions, conducted jointly with the forced-induction system manufacturer, Turbokomplekt JSC.
By the end of October, 8809.10-02 engine will be delivered to the Central Scientific Research Institute of Automobile and Motor Engines (FSUE NAMI) to fine-tune its integration with promising hybrid transmissions currently under development by the state scientific center.
