KAMAZ and Segezha Group have agreed to test a new line-up of import-substituted Lesnik-2 logger in Karelia.
The ecosystem under development covers the entire process chain: from harvesting to timber removal and auxiliary operations. Unlike the previous version, Lesnik–1, which was built using imported components, the Lesnik-2 series will consist of Russian sanctions-resistant components.
The upgraded KAMAZ-1010 harvester, KAMAZ-1012 forwarder and a short logger equipped with a hydraulic manipulator on the KAMAZ-65955 chassis will be sent to the forest areas in the near future. Vehicles will be tested at the Segezha landfill of the Segezha Pulp and Paper Mill Forest Resources branch (part of Segezha Group) in the harsh landscape and climatic conditions of the Russian North. Employees of the timber holding company will study in detail to what extent the designers and engineers were able to take their comments into account: the previous version, Lesnik-1, was tested there starting 2024.
