The heaviest-duty tow truck in Russia, developed in collaboration between KAMAZ PTC and Kuzovstroitel, has been handed over to the Leningrad Regional Environmental Police. The special-purpose vehicle is based on the KAMAZ-65951 chassis.
The tow truck, based on the high-tech K5 generation KAMAZ chassis, transferred to the environmental oversight agency is aimed at improving the efficiency of handling overloaded vehicles and equipment violations. The use of a heavy-duty tow truck will reduce towing time, improve road safety, and expand the capabilities of handling non-standard equipment.
KAMAZ-65951 has a gross vehicle weight of 50 tons, with the front axles supporting up to 18 tons and the rear bogie - up to 32 tons. During the development of the tow truck, Kuzovstroitel specialists increased the wheelbase to 6,000 mm. This configuration effectively distributes the load between four axles and ensures stability when operating heavy tow equipment. The vehicle is also equipped with a modern KAMAZ R6 diesel engine with a maximum capacity of 483 HP. The high torque of the 16-speed manual gear box allows for towing loads of up to 60 tons. The pneumatic brake system with EBS and an electronically controlled parking brake meets modern safety standards. The comfortable cabin is equipped with everything necessary for a comfortable driver experience. The 8x4 wheel arrangement ensures high cross-country ability and versatility of use.
