Reopening of the former GM plant in Shushary is scheduled for the current year
The former GM plant in Shushary, which has been idle for 10 years, may resume operations by the end of 2025. Currently, Avtozavod AGR (formerly Hyundai) is negotiating with the government of Saint Petersburg and the Ministry of Industry and Trade to conclude a special investment contract.
According to sources close to the company, production will be launched jointly with the Chinese Chery concern, which has already begun to deliver equipment to the company's workshops. It is planned that models of Chery Jaecoo sub–brand – J7 and J8 - will be the first cars to roll off the assembly line of the plant. In the future, it is possible to replenish the brand's model line-up with a business class sedan.
