Within the framework of the International Hydrogen Conference, held on October 23-24, 2024 in Moscow, the largest Russian manufacturer of heavy trucks KAMAZ PTC and the Center for Hydrogen Technologies AFK Sistema presented a joint development – KAMAZ-53193 Chistogor truck with a hydrogen power plant.
At the beginning of the current year, the companies signed a cooperation agreement. The scientific and technological partnership between the two corporations involves the creation of a series of products powered by hydrogen fuel. The first prototype that the participants of the International Hydrogen Conference could see was the environmentally friendly KAMAZ-53193 "Chistogor" truck with a hydrogen power plant, thanks to which an electric vehicle with a load capacity of over 20 tons can travel up to 500 km at one charge. By the end of the year, it is planned to test the prototype at the landfill, after which hydrogen-powered trucks, including unmanned vehicles, may appear on the road. It is assumed that hydrogen trucks will be equipped with Russian fuel cell units, production of which is planned to be set up next year.
