The new logistics zone will be put into operation at KAMAZ

A new logistics zone is being prepared for filling at the KAMAZ Automobile Plant, located within walking distance from the assembly line for K5 generation cabins. The start of the new warehouse work will be a signal to launch new logistics processes that will increase the rhythm of the components supply to production site.

Expansion of the model range of new-generation heavy-duty trucks and the need to increase the pace of their assembly led to the implementation of the K5 Assembly Line Reengineering project, which started last year. Logistics has reviewed the planning, methods and mechanisms of delivery of components, taking into account the best practices. This made it possible to ensure transparent accounting along the entire chain from supplier to consumer, timely provision of needs and reduction of stocks both in the warehouse and production. Along with the development of the route flow map, the release of areas was underway.

The roadmap was also drawn up for the high-speed (most actively used) components, which will be supplied from the warehouses of LC and OLC according to the Just in Sequence, Just in Time, kanban principles in compliance with all logistics rules. The vehicles circulating between warehouses and production site will also take out everything necessary for assembly from suppliers' consignment warehouses. This solution will significantly reduce labor intensity and losses from reloading and transferring products from one warehouse to another. Bulky products will be delivered in a separate stream. They will be unpacked and stored in the warehouse, and then delivered to the assembly line.

The new scheme is ready to work. The managers are confident that with its launch and the systematic organization of the warehouse management, logistics will be able to provide an assembly line for K5 generation cabins at a rate of 120 machine kits per day.
