The Tutaev Motor Plant, KAMAZ subsidiary in the Yaroslavl region, has begun preparations for arranging an assembly and testing section for in-line R6 engines designed for agricultural vehicles, industrial installations, river and marine vessels, and diesel locomotives.
The new section will be located in the building of units, next to the cast-iron cylinder head machining section. Industrial installations, river and sea vessels, diesel locomotives and agricultural vehicles will be equipped with R6 engines capacity of 430-460 HP produced by TMP PTC. Rostselmash and the Saint Petersburg Tractor Plant will become the main consumers of R6 engines.
According to Vladimir Mikhailovich Shchanikov, Chief Engineer of TMP PTC, in order to reduce the time required to create a new production facility, parallel design and construction work have been organized. Preliminary process procedures, planning solutions and designs of building slipways for assembly have already been developed. Building slipways will be manufactured in-house by workers from the non-standardized equipment and repair and tooling workshops.
