In 1.5 years, 70 thousand Hyundai and Kia cars will be assembled in Saint Petersburg. According to Autonews, they will be sold under the GAC brand.

AGR, which is close to the Avilon dealer holding and owns the former Volkswagen plant in Kaluga, will buy an idle Hyundai and Kia car manufacturing plant in Saint Petersburg by the end of 2023.

The Chinese GAC concern will act as AGR's partner, however, at the first stage in Saint Petersburg, the production of former Korean models from the remaining parts will resume under this Chinese brand. In the first 1.5 years, it is planned to assemble 70 thousand cars. At the same time, the enterprise capacity is 220 thousand cars per year, respectively, the plant will work in one shift.
