In preparation for the production of LADA Azimut crossover, unique automated equipment for mounting a panoramic roof has been installed on the AvtoVAZ's main assembly line.
A robotic stand for mounting the panoramic roof has been installed at the very beginning of Assembly Line No. 1, where LADA Aura and Vesta based on the same platform are produced, and where Azimut will be produced. For installation, which takes approximately four minutes, the car body is redirected to a separate section so that installation can be completed without interrupting the main assembly line. Using an automatic manipulator, the roof is installed in the car and centered on special guides. Then impact wrenches integrated into the manipulator automatically tighten screws around the perimeter of the panoramic roof.
LADA Azimut will be the first LADA model with a panoramic roof and sliding sunroof; approximately 40% of cars are planned to be equipped with this option. Previously, AVTOVAZ pioneered laser welding technology for the production of bodies with panoramic roofs.
