A new wheel assembly and balancing line has been launched at AvtoVAZ

A new automated wheel assembly and balancing line has been commissioned at AvtoVAZ.

The new line makes it possible to assemble a wide range of wheel of different sizes. Along with standard diameters of 15-17 inches for current models, the equipment is ready to work with 18–inch wheels - this size will be used for LADA cars for the first time. A trial batch of 18-inch wheels for LADA Azimut has already been produced and is being used in the assembly of prototypes and testing. The line is potentially capable of working with wheel sizes up to 22 inches.

Special attention is paid to balancing: the line checks the wheel twice – before and after installation of balancing weights. If incorrect values are detected, the wheel is removed from the process flow without human intervention. The use of fifth–generation robots and automatic changeover inside the line made it possible to achieve high productivity - the wheel is assembled every 12 seconds, which is one and a half times faster than the pace of the previous equipment.
